Morning Pick Me Up

Have you been rushing too much lately? It seems like in our fast-paced lives, we often find ourselves caught in a whirlwind of activity, grabbing this and that, moving from one task to another in a frantic attempt to accomplish everything on a to-do list. Yet, despite all this hustle, we frequently return to the same spot, feeling as though we have reached nothing significant or meaningful that we actually wanted to achieve.


I honestly know this feeling all too well, as it can be incredibly disheartening to reflect on a day filled with busyness, only to realize that we have not made any real progress towards our goals or personal fulfillment. It's easy to get lost in the chaos of daily responsibilities, whether it’s work commitments, family obligations, or social engagements, leaving us feeling drained and unfulfilled. This constant state of rushing can lead to a sense of overwhelm, making it crucial to find those moments of pause and reflection. Taking a step back to prioritize what truly matters can help in regaining focus and clarity.


Sometimes, all we need is a simple morning pick-me-up—a moment of mindfulness, a cup of a healthy energising drink, or a few deep breaths—to reset our minds and reorient our intentions for the day ahead. Embracing these small rituals can transform our approach to the day, allowing us to move forward with purpose and a renewed sense of energy.


But first - Sleep! As the old adage suggests, "early to bed, early to rise" can truly make a world of difference. Research shows that the hours before midnight are crucial for physical and mental restoration. By aiming for a 9-10 pm bedtime, you can wake up early enough to nurture your well-being before the demands of the day take over.


Consider dedicating that extra morning hour to a personalized routine that nourishes your mind, body, and spirit. A structured approach can be particularly effective:


  • Prayer (15-20 minutes): Begin your day with quiet contemplation. Connect with your inner -self, express gratitude, and find solace in prayer. Explore different prayers or revisit your favorites to deepen your practice.

  • Meditation/Focus (15 minutes):  Center yourself and clarify your vision for life. Visualize your goals and the feelings associated with achieving them. Surrender your aspirations with trust, knowing that a higher power guides your path.

  • Exercise (15 minutes):  Invigorate your body with mindful movement. Engage in an exercise routine that you genuinely enjoy and that supports your physical health.

  • Journaling (15 minutes):  Dedicate time to reflective writing. Express gratitude for the blessings in your life, reaffirm your goals through positive affirmations, and plan your day with intention.


This is just a template, of course. Feel free to adjust it to suit your individual needs and preferences. Perhaps you'd like to incorporate reading, creative expression, or spending time in nature. The key is to prioritize activities that promote self-awareness, inner peace, and personal growth.


By reclaiming your mornings and dedicating time to these practices, you'll cultivate greater focus, resilience, and a deeper connection to your true self.
